Privacy policy

How Corridor 99 collects, uses and protects personal information.

Draft: last updated 2026-10-11. This policy is a plain-language draft and is subject to legal review before launch.

Corridor 99 (corridorninetynine.com) is published by Granny Panties Media in British Columbia, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

  • Information you send us. When you use our contact, tips or advertise forms, we collect what you enter, such as your name, email address, message and any files you upload. These forms run on Gravity Forms, and submissions are stored in our website’s database.
  • Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe to The Switchback, we collect your email address and your consent to receive it. Our newsletter is sent through a third-party email service, which stores your address for that purpose.
  • Usage data. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are read and how visitors arrive. It collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, using cookies or similar technologies.
  • Advertising data. We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
  • Technical data. Our web server records standard log information such as IP address, browser and the pages requested, which we use for security and to keep the site running.

Why we use it

  • To answer your messages, follow up on tips and handle advertising enquiries.
  • To send the newsletter you asked for.
  • To understand and improve the site.
  • To show advertising that pays for our journalism.
  • To keep the site secure and to meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share tip submissions with advertisers.

Consent and your choices

  • You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every issue.
  • You can manage cookies through our cookie banner and your browser settings. See our cookie policy.
  • Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads and non-essential cookies are used, in line with Google’s EU user consent policy.

Where information is stored

Our website is hosted on servers we manage. Google (Analytics and AdSense) and our newsletter provider may process and store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of those countries.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or anonymise it.

Access and correction

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent, subject to legal limits. Send your request through our contact form. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Children

Corridor 99 is a general-audience publication and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date at the top.
