Send a news tip
Know something about the 99, council or a business on the corridor? Tell us.
The Sound runs on tips from people who live along the corridor. If something is changing in Lions Bay, Britannia Beach, Squamish, Whistler or Pemberton, such as a road project, a council decision, a development, a business opening or closing, or a community story, we want to hear about it.
What to send
- What happened, where and when.
- How you know, and anyone else we could ask.
- Links, public documents, photos or files that back it up. Only send photos you took or have permission to share.
- How to reach you if we have follow-up questions. You can choose to send a tip without contact details, but we may not be able to follow it up.
How we treat tips and sources
- A tip is a starting point, not a story. We verify everything independently before we publish anything.
- We do not publish your name or contact details without your permission.
- Tip submissions are stored in our website’s form system and are seen only by people working on Corridor 99’s editorial side. They are not shared with advertisers.
- No online form is perfectly anonymous. If your safety or job could be at risk, think carefully about what you include, and consider sending from a personal device and network.
What not to send
- Emergencies. If someone is in danger, or there is a fire, crash or other emergency, call 911. For wildfire reports, call 911 or BC Wildfire Service’s reporting line; we cannot dispatch help.
- Live road conditions. Check DriveBC.
- Other people’s private information, or material you obtained illegally.
- Advertising or press releases dressed up as tips. Use the advertise page or the contact form.
