Two elections in eight days: what Sea to Sky voters decide on October 17 and 24

Every council on the corridor is on the ballot October 17, and a provincial general election follows on October 24. Here is who is running locally, where to vote, and the deadlines.

Corridor voters go to the polls twice this month. The 2026 general local election is Saturday, October 17, with mayors and councils on the ballot in Lions Bay, Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton, and two contested regional director seats in the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD). A week later, on Saturday, October 24, comes the provincial general election, which Elections BC says was called on September 22.

Local races, town by town

  • Lions Bay: two candidates for mayor and eight for council, per the Village’s declaration of candidates. Advance voting is Wednesday, October 7, and general voting is October 17, both from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Broughton Hall, 400 Centre Road, according to the Village’s September 28 update.
  • Britannia Beach (SLRD Electoral Area D): two candidates, Cameron Bell and Paula de Jong, are running for Area D director, per the SLRD’s declaration of election by voting. Britannia Beach Fire Hall, 360 Copper Drive, is a voting place on October 7 (advance) and October 17, according to the SLRD voter information page. The SLRD uses same-day registration.
  • Squamish: three mayoral candidates and 16 council candidates for six seats, per the District’s declaration of election by voting. General voting is at Brennan Park; advance days run October 7, 8, 10 and 15, per the District’s election page.
  • Whistler: four mayoral candidates and 17 council candidates for six seats, per the RMOW candidates page. Advance voting is October 7 and 10 at Whistler Public Library; general voting is at Myrtle Philip Community School. The RMOW says its two school trustees were acclaimed.
  • Pemberton: two candidates for mayor and five for four council seats, per the Village’s notice of election by voting. All voting is at the Pemberton & District Community Centre, 7390 Cottonwood Street, with advance opportunities on October 3, 7, 10 and 14.

The SLRD also declared directors for Area B and Area C, which includes the Pemberton Valley, elected by acclamation, so no vote is held there.

Who can vote locally

Local voters must be 18 or older on October 17, Canadian citizens, and B.C. residents for at least six months, and either live in the municipality or area or have owned property there for at least 30 days. Bring two pieces of ID, one with a signature. Mail ballots are available in each jurisdiction; check your local government’s page for deadlines.

The provincial vote

Elections BC lists advance voting from October 16 to 21, final voting day on October 24, and a final count planned for November 6 to 10. Its Where to Vote app shows the voting places for each address.

One practical note: the RMOW says Whistler Transit is free on both October 17 and October 24.
